DIY Leaf Place Cards

Last year at Thanksgiving, we had a family reunion.  We were celebrating Thanksgiving and my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary.

Since we were traveling, and I couldn’t bring a dish to help with the Thanksgiving meal, I asked if I could contribute by making place cards for the table.

I needed to come up with something that wouldn’t get smashed in my suitcase and that would be easy to put together once we arrived.

I went to a local scrapbook store, Archivers,  and used their dye cut machine to cut leaves from orange paper.

I wrote the names on the leaves.

I found several quotes on gratitude and printed them out on vellum paper.  I tried to put a different quote on each card.

I wanted a simple and inexpensive stand for the place cards.  I bought a box of gold binder clips at the office store that could hold the leaf upright.

It worked but if you decide to use that idea, the medium to bigger size were steadier and didn’t need to be carefully balanced.

It was a nice way to bring something to the celebration.  One of the best parts of that was that someone suggested we go around the table and each read our quote aloud.  It was a good way to bring a feeling of gratitude for all.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
