I finished up my Graphite Pencil Drawing class at the Denver Botanic Gardens  last week.

It was a fun class with Susan Rubin, an artist who creates beautiful botanic pencil and color pencil paintings.

I learned more about drawing and got some great tips for working with graphite.  You can read a little more about it on my Sally Evans Art blog.

It always seems difficult to add things to the schedule but I have found that signing up for these classes have been one of the best ways for me to practice drawing.

It gives me a structure and a commitment that requires me to set aside the time to draw.

Despite my best intentions, without the structure, it doesn’t always happen.

Is there something you have wanted to do that taking a class would give you the structure you need?

Inspiring Recycled Art

I love the idea of taking something that is considered of little to no value and making it into something treasured.

I will be sharing a few of the inspiring sites that I found on people making recycled art using common materials.

Today’s inspiration is Mark Langan from Brunswick Hills, Ohio.  You have to see his awesome slideshow of one of a kind art using reclaimed corrugated boxes.

Here are a couple pictures.  Be sure to visit his site for more inspiration!

What can you make out of something that was bound for the recycle bin or trash?
