Autumn Leaves

Do you tend to focus on what hasn’t happened yet? On what you don’t have or on what’s missing?

It’s easy to do and for most of us, it’s natural to feel we haven’t done enough or gotten as far as we want.

It’s a good and healthy thing to want more. But it is also vitally important to look at what we already have and what we have done.

Acknowledging the good things in your life allows you to attract more. You’ve heard many times, I’m sure, that whatever you focus on expands.

Being grateful for what you do have can make a major shift in your perspective of your life. If you took a few moments now, to think of a list of things you are thankful for, I’ll bet you could come up with at least twenty or more things in a couple of minutes.

It seems an especially appropriate time of year and also in our world right now to build ourselves up and be inspired to use our gratitude to make a better life.

You’ve probably heard of the idea to write down 5 or more things that you are grateful for each day. It sounds simple enough. But sometimes it can be difficult to get into the habit.

That is why I created a free 30 day email gratitude journal reminder that can help you establish the habit and raise your awareness about the good things in your life. I’ve included a wonderful, inspirational quote each day that will help you to remember the value of gratitude and to focus on the good that is already in your life. One of the best things about this is that you begin to notice and look for things throughout your day that lift your spirits. What are your grateful for today?

Creative Reminders

Have you ever wanted to create a simple new habit or ritual and yet you can’t seem to remember to do it past the first day or so?

Maybe you want to remember to clear your workspace at the end of each day so you have a fresh start in the morning. Or maybe you want to write or draw in your journal, incorporate a few meaningful affirmations, or just take a few deep breaths to relax your body.

Sometimes forgetting what you meant to do its resistance rearing its ugly head but sometimes you just need to have a reminder.

Here are a couple of ways to give yourself those creative and helpful reminders and to keep your intentions in the forefront until you’ve established the new habit you want:

Creative Visual Reminders

  • What if you left yourself little reminders in the way of a symbol?
  • Maybe you could leave out a container of colorful pens or pencils to inspire you to write or draw in your journal.
  • Or a paintbrush in a vase to entice you to paint.
  • You could tie some balloons or a picture of them to a spot where you will see it several times a day to remind yourself to relax and take a deep breath.
  • You can leave a toy in a visible spot to help you remember to be more playful.
  • My sister sent me a toy Gumby character that reminds me to be flexible.
  • Can you find a picture of something that you put on the refrigerator or in a frame and put it in a place you’ll see it everyday?

Calendar

How about a sticker or picture in your calendar that reminds you daily?

Notes

How about creating an affirmation in calligraphy or a nice font on your computer and printing it on nice paper to put by your beside or the bathroom sink?

You can always use simple post it notes or index cards to leave yourself little reminders in places you know you’ll see them around your house or work space.
