When I was researching and developing the 12 Pillars of Creativity a great deal of thought went into the order. The idea being that we should start with the foundation. Things that can help us jumpstart or ones that serve as a solid foundation.

This year upon a bit of reflection it turns out that my physical health is the area that I think is limiting my creativity the most. Now January is often full of people saying they are going to spend the year at the gym. For me though. My goal is a bit more ambitious. The goal is to lose 100 pounds in 2019, or at least to be well on the way.

I have realized that there are a few ailments due to my weight that have become a distraction, specifically some aches and pains that make it difficult for me to focus. I’ve been going to the gym fairly regularly but lacking consistency and focus when at the gym. So a big part of my effort this year is going to be asking for help.

I’ve picked up an Apple Watch to track my progress and to leverage the reminders to move.

In addition to my weight this focus on the 3rd pillar of overall health includes my need for better sleep, and perhaps a bit of effort in the mental health area as well. I’m essentially running through the hear with “healthy” as the filter I’m going to run each decision through. “Is this a healthy thing to eat?” and “Is it healthy to avoid this conversation?” and even “Is it healthy to read this or stay up late or drink this?”

If you were to examine the 12 Pillars which do you think needs the most support at this point in your journey? What can you do to strengthen that pillar in your life?
